![]() ![]() How do I get rid of the annoying red circle on the App Store icon? There is no way to do that within the app store and one internet solution to delete (move to desktop) the library files from didn't work either. That didn't fix the problem of the GarageBand update still showing up in the App Store update list. Long story short, I used App Cleaner & Uninstaller and got rid of GarageBand (never used it) and its associated files, plus a few apps and files. It may work fine, but updates - not so much! Go to the Apps List on your emulator, locate GarageBand, and launch the app. The app will be installed in the emulator. Click on the ‘Install’ button next to the app. The app will appear immediately as a search result. I should have realized from my years working with industrial computer systems that every piece of hardware and software has a life expectancy. Once inside the store, go to the search bar at the top of the window and search for GarageBand. Unfortunately it would not update since my MBP was not at OS level 11.Īfter repeated attempts (and repeated failures) to install macOS Big Sur, and web sites indicating a problem with the install, I looked into it further last night and discovered that my early 2013 MBP 15" Retina, running the latest version of Catalina, has reached its OS limit. Removing GarageBand Update in App Store With the rollout of macOS Big Sur I was presented with an update for GarageBand in the App Store. to Apple: Really? It's bad enough I can't install Big Sur, but do you have to rub salt in the wound by teasing me with an app update I can't install?) If anyone knows a way to do this, I'm all ears! I have read lots of other potential solutions, but none seem to be able to hide updates for one application only. I have tried the "Hide Purchase." option for GB in the App Store. I don't want to suppress all update notifications. I want to suppress the update notification for GarageBand only. If that's the only update pending, there would be no badge on the App Store icon if there is a GB update and another update pending, the badge would read "1", etc. I want to eliminate the GB update from the number of available updates in the badge on the App Store icon in my dock. The App Store application offers a GarageBand update, but when I try to install it, I get the error, "GarageBand can't be installed on "Macintosh HD" because macOS version 11 or later is required." Catch-22. My iMac (late 2013) just missed the Big Sur eligibility cutoff.
